For Jane....

Yesterday it was 2years since Art's sister Jane passed away, I can't believe how fast the time's flown by. When I was looking at a few pics on FB I realised I'd never posted photos from when we all went to The Land last year for Jane's birthday so what better time than now?
We all met at The Land, a special place where trees were planted for Jane & in the middle of them is a gate with a sign that says For Jane in her handwriting. It's a little reference to Blazing Saddles, a family favourite & after raising a toast & enjoying some Vegan cake on the second day we all walked through it.
Throughout the afternoon we all plonked ourselves in one of the barns listening & signing along to live music while enjoying various home brews & nibbles.
Once it got dark we all set off to a big bonfire in the next field, enjoyed some fireworks then sang camp songs in rounds while everyone huddled together to keep warm.
By this point it was getting late & people started heading to their tents, not us though, we bedded down in the car with lots of pillows, blankets & hot water bottles. It was the best decision ever & we were snug as bugs in rugs all night.
The next morning we all had a Vegan lunch where everyone had brought a dish before one last visit to the trees & Jane's gate & think about all the fun times we'd been lucky enough to have with her & all the times she's missing out on rolling her eyes at me seeing Steps again!

Ladies what #ldnlunch

After a few deep breaths I plucked up the courage to walk into the Jetlag bar in Fitzrovia & meet some fellow blogging lovelies. I'd first heard about Ldnlunch On Eloise's blog . I'd always wanted to go to a blogger meet so I put my name down straight away. I was a bit nervous when I realised there were about 40 other girls going who's blogs were mainly about fashion, whereas mine is just random ramblings from inside my brain box but decided I'd still go seeing as I had nothing to lose! I arrived expecting to be early but there were already lots of people sitting down for drinks & food so I grabbed a drink & perched on a pooffe. I just ordered a bowl of chips (how adventurous!) but I did pick off the plates around me (yoink! Thanks Lois! ). Londoners pt1

For Chrimbo Adam gave me a book called "Londoners. The days & nights of London now - as told by those who love it, hate it, live it, left it & long for it" by Craig Taylor. After reading the introduction & before reading any more I decided I'd think about what London & being a Londoner means to me. Even though I picked out bullet points I still got a bit carried away so I'll spread it over a few posts so here goes part 1, I'll start with the one thing that I think of straight away when someone says London to me: ~ the tube is a huge part of London life. It's about sitting on a train for an hour & not knowing what any one's face looks like only their shoes, panic attacks when the train gets stuck in a tunnel without explanation, keeping left, standing on the right spot on a platform so you'll be in front of the doors when they open & also so when you get off you'll be at the exit to the station - even if that exit says no ent

Happy 30th Adam!

Wow what an eventful weekend! Friday was Adam's 30th so we both took the day off work to celebrate together. After sleeping in till 10am Adam finally woke me up asking when I was going to emerge & celebrate his birthday with him - Yoink! So much for the breakfast in bed I had planned. We started the day off as all birthdays should be celebrated - with a trip to Asda! After getting the boring chores out the way we headed to Winter Wonderland (via the Barber) for our annual wander around with a mulled wine in one hand & a Bratwurst in the other all polished off with a pretzel. We stopped off at the Carousel bar to watch the world go by (literally! The whole bar rotates really slowly) & have another mulled wine while putting the world to rights before heading off for dinner in Hammersmith.
